edging the sidewalk in the park, 2005
Beautifying this site in the park was an important part of the public art work that I did in York, Alabama. When I started the edging work, I was simply attempting to make the site more enjoyable for picnics, play, and other uses. It was only after the work was well begun that I realized the full significance and visual impact of the gesture. I was very surprised to uncover the line of tiles that edged the side of the former swimming pool, because it was previously hidden by dirt and grass without a trace.
